### Medication Management

Covered by most plans. Ongoing prescription management visits typically fall under your outpatient mental health benefit.

### TMS Therapy

Many plans cover TMS for treatment-resistant depression. Prior authorization and documented medication trials are usually required.

### Spravato (Esketamine)

FDA-approved and increasingly covered by insurance plans. We recommend verifying benefits before your first session.

### Ketamine Therapy

Typically not covered by insurance. Self-pay options are available. Contact our office for current pricing.

### Telehealth Visits

Good to Know

## Your Coverage Rights

Under the [Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act](https://www.dol.gov/agencies/ebsa/laws-and-regulations/laws/mental-health-parity), most insurance plans are required to cover mental health services at the same level as medical and surgical benefits. This means your copays, deductibles, and visit limits for psychiatric care cannot be more restrictive than those for a medical office visit.

In Texas, [state parity laws (HB 10)](https://www.tdi.texas.gov/health/mental-health-parity-overview.html) reinforce these protections for all fully insured health plans. If you believe your plan is not providing equal coverage for mental health services, you have the right to file a complaint with the Texas Department of Insurance.

**Self-Pay Options**
For services not covered by insurance, such as ketamine therapy, we offer self-pay pricing. Contact our billing team at (512) 522-1870 for current rates and payment options.

**Be Well, TX Partnership**
CARMAhealth partners with Be Well, TX to provide no-cost medication-assisted treatment for patients facing financial barriers. Ask our team if you qualify.

Common Questions

## Insurance FAQs

We accept 15+ insurance plans, including Aetna, Ambetter (Superior Health Plans), Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, Curative, Harbor Health, Baylor Scott & White, Sendero, Seton, and United Healthcare. Coverage and benefits vary by plan, so we recommend calling (512) 212-4670 to verify your specific benefits before scheduling.

Many insurance plans cover TMS therapy for treatment-resistant depression. Coverage typically requires prior authorization and documentation that the patient has not responded to at least two antidepressant medications. Our team handles the prior authorization process on your behalf. Call us to check your specific plan's TMS benefits.

Generic ketamine therapy (IV or intramuscular) is generally not covered by insurance because it is used off-label for psychiatric conditions. However, Spravato (esketamine nasal spray) is FDA-approved for treatment-resistant depression and is increasingly covered by insurance plans. We offer self-pay options for ketamine therapy. Contact our office for current pricing.

With insurance, your cost for a psychiatric visit depends on your plan's copay, coinsurance, and deductible. Most patients with in-network coverage pay a standard specialist copay for medication management visits. We verify your benefits before your first visit so there are no surprises.

If your plan is not on our accepted list, you may still be able to see our practitioners as an out-of-network patient. We can provide a superbill that you submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Contact our billing team at (512) 522-1870 to discuss your options.
